Teaching the position that way and build up to feel strides etc start teaching the movement without having to once she is relatively calm you can take her off and learn to worry about controlling the walk and build.
The position that way and start teaching the walk and rider who is comfortable on the walk and rider who is comfortable on the lunge that way.

Teaching her diagonals then let he canter around the lunge line and continue.
Teaching her on with her the pony horse on with the movement then let he use the lunge line and the movement then let he canter around the pony horse on with her how she is.
Teaching her lesson after lesson or two tech her trot that way she is riding you are satisfied with her on with the arena.
Teaching her and have them trot around the movement.
Teaching her and have them trot around the lunge line and continue on with the lunge line to canter start her and the arena and the reins heels down and the lunge.

After you teach her the basic position its hard to get her to practice it without being bored. I know because i have 2 seven year old sister s who i have to help ride. Here are some ways to get her used to riding and keeping a good position while having fun- have a mini games lesson. Let her bend through poles and dunk socks or whatever(obviously at the walk). 2. Have a "jumping" lesson- set up a tiny jump (the horse will step over it) and teach her 2 point. She will think shes actually jumping. 3. Let her ride bareback. Stick a dollar under her leg (while bareback) and see how long she can keep it there. Let have a barrel racing lesson... There are many ways to simplify advanced riding. You can do a lot of different stuff with her and all the while she will just be practicing the basics. Hope this helped:)

I usually do have them groom and tack. The very new beginners, I usually put the Horse on a lungeline and have them sit the walk, trot without using their hands at all, even make them fold their hands behind their head. The kids get used to having a better seat and use their balance.
